Conference for District 9920 and 9930 has been and gone.
With the theme of "Better Together" and a range of high qualityof speakers that included Sir Ashley Bloomfield, Cat Levine, Julianna Carvalho and Dr Eva Harkanson, [until recently the holder of a world record for a electric powered motor bike of over 440km an hour] it was an entertaining and instructive weekend.
American Greg Podd, Rotary Foundation Trustee 2023 - 2025 represented the World President with one of his addresses paying tribute to Bill Boyd and the huge contribution he had made to Rotary.
There was a Pasifika theme to the entertainment and a great band on Friday night.
One thing that is evident however is that the issues Rotary has with declining Rotarian numbers also impacts on the increasing difficulty of attracting a large audience to a conference.
Remembering that the planned 9920 conference to be held in Auckland last year was cancelled due to low numbers of registration this year combined two districts.
The 2026 Conference to be held in Napier will involve districts 9910, 9920 and 9930.
