Trees for Survival

Roger Milne reports that Trees for Survival has big plans to grow the number of schools participating by 25 each year to reach 2,000 by the year 2020.  95,000 seedlings are going to schools by courier but some volunteers are needed to put the plant growing units together for the schools entering the programme.

New Zealand Tour

Peter Hawkins presented on Monday evening an outline of the New Zealand Tour which a group of Australian and American Rotarians are about to commence.  The logistics in arranging such a tour are immense and already 90 Rotarians have indicated an interest in next year’s tour.  Some improvements have been made to this year’s tour based on a questionnaire sent to last year’s participants with the 17 day tour now ending in Christchurch with a farewell dinner.  Peter deserves many plaudits for the effort and time in promoting his vision and the potential it has demonstrated.

Battery Recycling Scheme Announced

Your Environment Committee encourages to bring your old and flat dry cell batteries to Rotary , and we will have them recycled.

The box will be near our Rotary reception at every meeting.

Please do not put these batteries in your rubbish  as they are bad pollutants.

If the batteries are already leaking, we do not want them!
