Meeting - 6 October 2025 - AGM+
Oct 06, 2025 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Annual General Meetings can be a bit uninteresting but there can be serious decisions made regarding the Club's past and future activities. One important action is the need to change our Constitution in line with the new requirements determined by the Incorporated Societies Act 2022. Also the tabling of our Financial Statements for the past year, provides evidence of the financial stability of the Club and can cause some candid discussion which you need to be part of going forward.

We will also have the opportunity to refresh our memories of one of the many successful programmes that our Club has instituted during the 55 years serving our community. You will be amazed to learn of the real success of this long term project and its particular relevance right now.

Make sure you come and be part of this special meeting.

Guest Speaker: Sean Marston
Topic: All about Nepal

Sean has been involved in Christian mission and aid agencies for 23 years. He has a Bachelor of Theology, Post Graduate Diploma in Development Studies and a Masters in Philosophy. He has a passion for connecting people to the wider world and engaging them through information, service and going to help overseas.

Message from Sean:
"When I speak, I want to help people in New Zealand understand the country and people of Nepal. I will give some background about Nepal and also share about the work we are involved with in Nepal that includes medical, aid and development and emergency response work. As an organisation we have a focus on serving people in Nepal through compassion for poor and marginalised people, treating people equally and seeking justice. For most New Zealanders there is a sense of connection with Nepal. This is through history, mountains, earthquakes, personal connections or trekking and I would like to build on this.

We have a fundraising project we have called ‘Notes For Nepal’ where I ask people to bring along any New Zealand or foreign notes or coins they may have (new or old) and donate them to INF and the money raised from these goes towards our medical work. I find this fundraising idea an easy and non-threatening way to raise funds because for most people they just have the notes or coins sitting in a drawer and it isn’t being used and so doesn’t cost people anything to support our medical work."

Meeting - 3 November 2025
Nov 03, 2025 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Guest Speaker: Bill Charkow
Topic: What's Happened to RYLA?

Owing to the difficulties involved in resourcing RYLA through individual clubs it was decided to form another mechanism to undertake RYLA. Bill will outline the new process and update the club on the new Rotary organization that runs RYLA (Rotary Young Leaders Award) and other Youth development programmes. The new entity is a limited liability company with 7 directors from different clubs. The new organization and processes allows for the leveraging of resources across the District as well past RYLArians and has made the programmes more sustainable and enduring for the future.
Our Club has been a long time supporter of this excellent youth program so the topic will be of interest to us all.
