DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Steve Farrelly – Breakfast Club Kids In 2007 Steve F
arrelly\, a former Detective Sergeant in the NZ Police returned from a tri
p to the USA with enthusiasm to duplicate in a Kiwi way what he had witnes
sed at the Dream Center on Los Angeles – also later on at the St Louis D
ream Center. Their quote ”Find a Need and Fill it…Find a Hurt and Heal
it” He resolved this would be his quote too. Steve along with his wife
Brenda\, created Breakfast Club in July 2010 starting at the Randwick Park
School and quickly spreading to the Glenn Innes area. With the support of
New World Eastridge\, Rotary Clubs of Epsom and East Auckland plus St Ken
tigern College he was on his way. Breakfast Club now has an amazing team o
f volunteers and supporters who help every day in a million different ways
helping make school a place kids want to go. While the name suggests it j
ust provides cereal and toast for hungry kids\, Brealfast Club has become
so much more than that Steve soon He soon realised they needed much more t
han food. “ We make sure when families need something\, they get it”
Feeding the children is always the priority but it’s also a very useful
vehicle for conversations on what is preventing individual children from
learning and ascertain what else needs to be done. It might be a lack of s
hoes\, problems in the home\, no budget for sanitary products or no way to
stay dry on a rainy day.  The struggles some kids have are beyond what m
any of us could ever imagine. Breakfast Club’s purpose is to find a way
to assist principals and teachers to get kids what they need so they can c
oncentrate on learning and creating a better future for themselves.   Cli
